Alerts & Notifications
VisitorFilters monitors your sites continuously and can alert you when suspicious activity occurs, thresholds are breached, or system health changes.
Alert Types
- Traffic Spike
- Triggered when incoming events exceed a defined rate within a time window.
- Block Rate High
- Fires when the percentage of blocked visitors exceeds a threshold.
- New Country
- Alerts when traffic arrives from a country not previously seen for your site.
- Rule Breach
- Notifies when a single rule fires more than a specified number of times.
- Collector Down
- Warns when no events have been received for a configurable duration.
Severity Levels
Each alert is assigned a severity from 1 (informational) to 5 (critical):
- 1-2 — Info / Low — Logged but not urgent.
- 3 — Medium — Worth reviewing soon.
- 4-5 — High / Critical — Requires immediate attention.
Notification Channels
Configure where alerts are delivered in Settings → Notifications:
- Email — Sent to team admins or a custom email list.
- Slack — Post to a channel via incoming webhook.
- Discord — Post to a channel via webhook URL.
- Webhook — Send a JSON payload to any endpoint.
Testing Channels
Use the Send Test button next to each channel to verify delivery before relying on it for real alerts.
Managing Alerts
View all alerts in Dashboard → Alerts. Each alert shows:
- Title and description
- Severity badge
- Status:
new,ack(acknowledged), orresolved - Timestamp
Workflow
- New alerts appear with status
new. - Click to acknowledge — status changes to
ack. - Once handled, mark as
resolved.
Configuring Thresholds
Alert thresholds are configured per-site in Settings → Alert Rules. You can adjust sensitivity to reduce noise while catching genuine threats.
